actf logo
Armed Crime Task Force
This logo was made for the ACTF in Victoria. They held a competition where students submitted their logo proposals, and the winning logo would be applied to their uniforms and stationary.
My proposal came in second. That's nearly first!

Anyway, the client did not want any guns or bullets portrayed in the logo, as this would be insensitive towards the families and friends of the victims of the crimes, who the ACTF deal with a lot. Instead, they wanted a logo that portrayed authority, strength, leadership and professionalism.

The logo is in essence a compass/star. The compass shows leadership, and direction when lost. The star shows authority, justice and ethics.
The blue spiral in the center is the inside view of a guns nozzle. This is a subtle connection of armed crimes incorporated into the logo without seeming menacing or frightening. Its clear cut sharpness adds an element of professionalism and efficiency to the logo. Notice that the points of the spiral all touch a point of the compass. This shows that the ACTF are clued in on all armed crimes. And finally, the colors of course portray authority and professionalism, with the strong blue and grey.
